USMLE Exam Pass Rates

The USMLE exam series is required for all Medical School Graduates who want to become a Licensed Physician in the United States. The series of exams tests basic sciences, clinical science and patient management. As an International Medical Graduate you will be competing with US Medical Graduates for US Residency and Fellowship positions. USMLE Step 1 and 2 scores are particularly important to help your application to stand out.

ECFMG – The Facts for International Medical Graduates

The ECFMG – Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates works with International Medical Graduates to provide certification. This certification assesses whether these graduates have the necessary educational standards to enter Residency in the United States. US Residency Application - Remember to reserve your slot on ERAS to submit your Letter of Recommendation

If you are a Doctor applying for residency in the US you should already be aware that you have to use the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to submit your application. A part of your application is to submit a Letter of Recommendation (LoR). In order to do this you would need to reserve a slot on your MyERAS account so your Letter of Recommendation can be submitted though the ERAS PostOffice.

IMGs Participating in the 2011 Match Must Apply for the Step 2CS Now!

International medical graduates and students applying to the 2011 Match have today been reminded they must take their USMLE Step 2CS by the 31 December 2010. If IMGs do not do this they will not receive their results in enough time to participate in the 2011 Match.

US Residency Match 2010 – Advanced Data

All International Graduates who wish to become Board Licensed in the US will need to complete a Residency Training Program. To gain a training program you’ll need to participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP – www.nrmp.org). US Residency Match takes place in the March of every year and this year it was the biggest in history, filling over 95% of the positions available.

The Post Match Scramble Explained for 2010 International Medical Graduate Applicants

When the National Residency Matching Program, “Match” takes place in the March of every year a number of residency programs and applicants go unmatched. Two days before candidates receive their match results unmatched programs are released. Unmatched candidates can enter the Post-Match Scramble. This is a two-day period starting on 16 March.

New Fees for Changing Appointments at Prometric Test Centers

USMLE.org have announced that as of the 1st January 2011 Prometric Test Centers (where you take your USMLE) will charge a fee if USMLE examiness change their testing appointments thirty of fewer days before their scheduled test date. This includes cancelations, changine test center locations and rescheduling.
