The course will run from 06 July through to the 31 July. You will have 15 days of lectures in total, split between the four high yield USMLE topics. You will receive a total of 100 hours of expert USMLE Step 1 tuition.

To become a licensed doctor in the US you are required to take a number of licensing exams called the USMLEs (United States Medical Licensing Exams). USMLE Step 1 is typically taken by US Medical Students after their second year at Medical School. This exam is designed to test how well you apply basic scientific knowledge to clinical scenarios. You are asked to pull on some or all of the following areas to answer the question successfully:
Anatomy
Physiology
Behavioral Science
Microbiology/Immunology
Pathology
Biochemistry
Pharmacology
Kaplan allows you to concentrate on the high yield material in each subject.
Questions: 336 Questions split into 7 blocks of 48 Questions
Timing: 8 hours in total, 60 minutes per block
Topics Tested: Anatomy, Behavioral Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology/Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology
Question Type: Multiple choice questions based on Clinical Vignettes. You may also have media clip questions. You must make a number of conclusions based on the information provided in order to pick the best answer.
Test Delivery: Tested completely online at a Prometric Center, students must pick one answer, but are not penalized for wrong answers.
The minimum test score for the USMLE Step 1 is 185, this represents a student answering between 55-65% of questions correctly. Please note however, that this is considerably lower than the average USMLE Step 1 score for US Medical Graduates which is 220-240.
Your USMLE score is an important factor in the decision taken by many US Residency Programs to interview students. You will be competing against US Medical Graduates in the Residency Match process, so thorough preparation and good scores are vital.
You will receive your score within 3 weeks of your test date. This will include a score report, outlining your performance by discipline and organ system.
As an International Medical Graduate (IMG) you will register for the USMLE Step 1 exam with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
To register for the USMLE Step 1 you will need to go through the process below. Remember planning is vital – your application alone can take 4-6 weeks. You will specify an eligibility period that you feel will give you adequate preparation time.
Secure application materials – Send official copies of documents, including your transcripts and medical diploma
Complete application – With your application send a recent photo, an application fee and choose a 3-month "eligibility period" in which to take your exam
Receive Scheduling Permit – Once your application is processed, you will receive a Scheduling Permit. This tells you the start and end dates of your 3-month eligibility period, instructions on scheduling your exam, your Scheduling Number and your Candidate Identification Number
Schedule test – You will schedule your test with a Prometric centre, instructions for contacting them will be provided on your scheduling permit.
