You will receive 12 days of live lectures on the high yield USMLE Step 3 subjects and 4 months of access to a Kaplan Medical center of your choice. Live lectures give you the most relevant content and insight into the exam while Center Prep allows you access to comprehensive study facilities, filmed lectures and a full set of USMLE lecture notes. Use the USMLE Step 3 filmed lectures before, after or during your study to give you a foundation of content knowledge.

Enroll through the London Center and we will guide you through your enrollment and act as your contact until you enter the US to start your course.

Course Overview

Learn from expert Kaplan Medical Faculty in a live lecture setting for 6 weeks for the USMLE Step 3 exam. Acclaimed lecturers provide up to date information about the high yield USMLE subjects vital for success on the USMLE Step 3 exam.

You will spend 4 months attending a center of your choice – this will provide you with videoed lectures allowing you to add to content knowledge learnt in class.

This comprehensive option provides students with everything they need for success on test day.

Course Structure

You can start your course on any day – you will enroll with one Kaplan Medical Center in the US and spend 4 months using their filmed lectures and USMLE facilities. You will book yourself into one of the available live lecture facilities for your USMLE Step 3 Live Lectures.

Visas

If you are applying from outside of the US, Kaplan can provide the relevant documentation to receive a US Study Visa upon payment.
To receive a study visa, we will require the following documentation:

Proof of financial eligibility or signed letter of support
Proof of English proficiency
Proof of scholastic preparation (transcript or diploma from college or university)
Copy of valid passport

Test Overview

Step 3 focuses primarily on patient management (45-55% of the questions). Multiple patient cases are used to assess your ability to evaluate patient history and physical examination information, order diagnostic tests, select initial therapies, and manage the patient as he/she responds to your clinical interventions.

The Step 3 patient cases allow simulation of physician/patient encounters in a variety of settings. You manage the case without prompting, typing in a variety of diagnostic and treatment options.

The software recognizes thousands of possible entries that you can type into the order sheet and is programmed with results for any intervention or test you choose.

Test Format

2-day computerized examination
500 multiple-choice items administered over the first day and a half of testing. These items deal with clinical situations typically encountered by a generalist physician
The exam concludes with a half-day consisting of approximately 9 open-ended computer-based case simulations (CCS)
There are three question formats used in the multiple-choice sections of Step 3: Single Best Answer, Multiple Item Sets and Case Clusters
This exam must be taken in the U.S.

Unlike the Step 1 and Step 2 examinations, the individual state medical boards administer the Step 3 eligibility requirements. Application procedures vary among the states. You should request information directly from the medical board of the state where you wish to work, or from the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSME).

Note that most of the states have designated the Federation as the initial contact for Step 3 application information.
