The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is required for entry into most US law schools – and all schools approved by the American Bar Association (ABA).
The LSAT exam will not require you to regurgitate memorized facts or apply learned formulas to specific problems. Instead it is a skills-based test. The LSAT requires you to think quickly, thoroughly and strategically.
The LSAT tests analytical thinking and critical reading skills which are essential for success in the first year of US law school.

Once you have completed your LSAT exam you will be given one overall score which will range from 120 to 180. You will not receive separate scores for the individual multiple choice sections.
You will receive a "score band"—which is a range of scaled scores above and below your score. This indicates a "true score" at a reasonable level of confidence.
Finally, you will also be awarded a percentile score. This score ranks your performance relative those of a large sample of other LSAT takers.
You can register for the LSAT with the test administrators, the Law School Admission Council, online at www.lsac.org. The registration fee is $120. Those who register late will be charged an additional $60.
In addition, almost all ABA-approved US law schools will require you to register with the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS). The LSDAS, or Law Services, will provide a report for each law school you apply to. This report will contains information that schools use, alongside your application, personal essay, and letters of recommendation, to decide on your application.
LSDAS charges a $109 fee for the service which will last for 5 years from your registration date.
