LSAT Anywhere Course FAQs

What's the difference between the LSAT Classroom and Anywhere courses?
The only difference between our London Classroom courses and the Anywhere course is that with the Anywhere course you do not physically sit in a classroom. Instead you access your "classroom" online, and you can interact with your instructor and classmates with chat, audio and video as you move through the lessons. Everything else remains the same, including the same expert teachers, the same course materials, and the same LSAT techniques and strategies.

Do I need to download software to join the virtual classroom?
No, all you need is an internet browser with an up-to-date version of Flash. Flash is already installed on 97% of internet browsers.

What will I see on my screen when I am in the virtual classroom?
You will see a variety of items which change throughout the lesson, including presentation slides, sample LSAT questions, a question-and-answer box, chat areas, online polls, a webcam shot of your teacher, and an onscreen whiteboard which the instructor will write on just like in a “real” classroom. We use Adobe Acrobat Connect

Will I have to dial into a conference call to hear the audio? Will this cost me money?
No—the system uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology which integrates audio into the classroom environment, allowing you to communicate without using a telephone line. It is just like using Skype. This is completely free.

Do I need a broadband connection?
It is recommended that you use a high-speed internet connection to avoid any delays when in the virtual classroom. If you have dial-up, you may prefer to take Kaplan’s LSAT On Demand course, which contains self-paced lessons, and so does not require you to follow live online sessions.

Do I get books and materials with LSAT Anywhere?
Yes, you will get a full study kit which is identical to those used by LSAT Classroom Course students. See the Course Materials box above for a full list. We will ship this to you ahead of the start of the course.

What should I have ready for my first course session?
Your first session is an Orientation. You do not need to prepare anything before the first session; however, feel free to browse the online platform to familiarize yourself with the online center.

What do I do if I cannot make a class?
All Kaplan classes are available as pre-recorded Lessons-on-Demand™ from within the Online Center.

Who can answer my academic questions about the course in which I am enrolled?
We provide academic support to students currently enrolled in a comprehensive Kaplan course. To contact Kaplan's Academic Support Department, please login to your Kaplan LSAT online resources. On your syllabus, look for the "Getting Started" section, and click the "Academic Support" link to submit your questions. You can also submit academic questions directly to your instructor by email for the duration of your enrollment period.

How can I find my Online Center username and password?
You will have received a welcome email with your Kaptest username and password. If you have not received this, please email us at kaptest.uk@kaplan.com

How can I find my username and password for the Anywhere Classroom?
You will have received an email with your Anywhere classroom login information. Please note that this is different from your Kaptest welcome email. If you cannot find that, please email us at kaptest.uk@kaplan.com or call us on +44 (0)20 7930 3130.

Test Overview

The majority of US law schools and all of those approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) require applicants to have taken the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

The LSAT is a skills-based test which does not require you to apply learned formulas or regurgitate memorized facts to specific problems. During your LSAT exam, you will be required to think thoroughly, strategically, and quickly.

The LSAT tests critical reading and analytical thinking skills deemed essential for success in the first year of US law school.

Test Scores

You will be given one overall score for the LSAT which ranges from 120 to 180. You will not receive individual scores for the separate multiple choice sections.

You will however, be given a "score band", which is a range of scaled scores above and below your score, indicating a "true score" at a reasonable level of confidence.

Finally, you will be awarded a percentile score. This ranks your performance in relation to the scores of a substantial population of LSAT takers.

Register for the Test

The easiest way to register for the LSAT is online with the test administrators, the Law School Admission Council at www.lsac.org.

Registration for the LSAT is $120 however those who register late will be charged an additional $60.

Almost all ABA-approved US law schools will also require you to register with the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS). The LSDAS, or Law Services, provides a report to every law school you’ve applied to. This contains information that law schools use, alongside your application, letters of recommendation and personal essay, to make a judgement on your application.

You will be charged a $109 fee for the LSDAS service which lasts 5 years from your registration date.
