PRIVACY POLICY / DATA PROTECTION STATEMENT

Kaplan is committed to maintaining the privacy of your personal information. This Privacy Policy and Data Protection Statement describes how we treat information received about you.

Information We Collect:

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, including personally identifying information such as your name, postal address, e-mail address, educational background, educational goals and interests, and credit card information (“personal data”).  We collect personal data from you in various ways, including when you enrol for courses, use online resources, participate in classes or tutoring, and send us feedback. We may also collect personal data about you from our business partners. When you log-on to our websites, we automatically receive information from your computer and browser, including your IP address.  Kaplan may use cookies and web beacons.

How We Use Information Collected

We may use your personal data in the following ways:

  • for the purpose you provided personal data, for example to enrol you in one of our courses, to process your order of one of our products or to respond to a specific inquiry;

  • to enhance your experience of other Kaplan products and services;

  • to administer, support, improve and develop our business;

  • send you information about Kaplan products or services and information that we believe will be of interest to you or to send you information about select third party's products or services that may be of interest to you;

  • allow you access to the Site to post your content or communicate with others; and

  • otherwise described to you at the point of collection.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that is sent by a website and stored on your hard drive or temporarily in your computer's memory. Cookies are small files and won't pose any significant disk-space concerns. You can disable our cookies using the cookie-menu on your Web browser, but doing so may materially affect the functionality of this Site and the information you can access through it. To learn more about cookies and browser functionality, search for "cookies" in the help function of your browser.

When someone visits www.kaptest.co.uk we install cookies that contain standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting either of our websites. We will not associate any data gathered from cookies with any personally identifying information from any source.

We and our service providers also may use so-called "pixel tags", "web beacons", "clear GIFs" or similar means (collectively, "Pixel Tags") in connection with some Site pages and HTML-formatted e-mail messages to, among other things, compile aggregate statistics about Site usage and response rates. A Pixel Tag is an electronic image, often a single pixel (1x1), that is ordinarily not visible to Site visitors and may be associated with cookies on the visitors’ hard drives. Pixel Tags allow us to count users who have visited certain pages of the Site, to deliver branded services, and to help determine the effectiveness of promotional or advertising campaigns.

Your Ability to Choose

You can choose not to provide information to Kaplan and you may configure your browser to reject cooking.  If you do not wish to receive promotional material from Kaplan, contact us by e-mail at kaptest.global@kaplan.com or by mail at Kaplan Test Prep, KTP International Office, 3-5 Charing Cross Road, London WC2H 0HA.  You may also use the link in Kaplan emails to opt-out of future communications from Kaplan Test Prep.

Disclosure to Third Parties

We do not share personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.  We may hire other companies to perform services on our behalf including, without limitation, facilitating some aspects of our web site and services, managing our database, sending e-mail and other mail to you, processing and collecting payments, providing us legal, financial and accounting advice and conducting required audits. These other companies may be supplied with or have access to your information solely for the purpose of providing these services to us or on our behalf. We also may disclose personally identifiable information in special circumstances where it is necessary under the law (for example, when necessary to protect our or a third party's intellectual property or proprietary rights) or when we, in our sole discretion, believe it is appropriate, in connection with a sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, or when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to do so.

When you enquire about courses provided by a Kaplan Certified Education Provider (KCEP), your personal data is accessible by and provided to that KCEP, both for marketing purposes so they can provide you with the requested information about their courses, and for administration purposes such as keeping track of your course records, accepting and recording your payments, providing you with certificates of completion and complying with any regulatory reporting requirements.

If you have enrolled in our courses through your employer, sponsor or educational institution, we may share your data and course attendance and study results with such third party or parties.  We may share your personal information with our affiliates, subsidiaries and other members of the Kaplan group companies.  Kaplan may disclose aggregated and anonymous data, which may include information about or derived from you, with third parties.

Transfer, Use and Processing for Other Countries

We may need to process and store your information in countries outside the EU (and not subject to EU Data Protection laws), including without limitation your home country, the country in which you plan to matriculate or other countries where we have offices or Kaplan Certified Education Providers (KCEPs). By providing your information to us, you consent to the transfer of your information to our offices or KCEPs in these other countries. Although data protection laws may not be as comprehensive in the country of the lead, Kaplan will take appropriate steps to ensure that lead data is handled appropriately.

Security

Kaplan is concerned with the security of your personal data. To keep that data secure, we restrict unauthorized access through protective policies, procedures, and technical measures.
