There has been much discussion over the past few months about whether more business schools will begin accepting the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) as well as the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) as part of their admission policy. Business schools such as Harvard and Wharton have recently begun accepting the GRE, so it has been speculated that other schools may also adopt this. However a recent Kaplan survey has revealed that many schools do not have plans to follow suit.

Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions in the US carried out a survey on admission officers from 260 of the top MBA programs in the US, and discovered that 24% currently accept the GRE (as well as the GMAT) but of the remainder, only 4.3% say they would consider accepting the GRE as part of their admission process.
Advice for students is to look at the individual MBA programs they are interested in to see if they accept the GRE as well as the GMAT. If students are unsure of the program they would like to apply to, then it is still advisable to study for the GMAT.
For more information on the survey please see the US Kaplan website.
